And the big news that day? Microsoft is making a fourth game.

At E3 they announced the remaster of the original Age of Empires game from 1997 and only a few months later at Gamescom they announced remasters for the second and third installment too. Back in 2017 Microsoft announced they were returning to Age of Empires.
